NOTE: This guide was written on the eve of the 2017 Valentines day. Certain things may have changed at the time that you're reading this.
Quest Type: Main
Unlocks: Stables and Horses, Caring, Keeping and Riding of Horses; Tricks, Vaulting and Show Jumping hobbies
Time Limit: 2 days
Requirements:
- Level 11
- Completed the Raiders of The Lost Artifacts quest.
Tips:
- Your Promotion R Us store should be built before starting this quest.
- If possible, have at least 8 sims at the ready when you're doing steps 12-13. Yeah, it only says 4 sims but the amount of hours it will take to clean up the trash is very long.
- Be ready to shell out some lifestyle points (recommended for busy gamers). The 2-day time limit is very tight IMO especially if you have a job and can't always login into the game to check your progress.
Once the Raiders of the Lost Artifacts quest is completed, a new quest will pop up.
1. Spot horses with a telescope- 5 minutes (The telescope can be bought in the Promotion R Us store)
2. Go to Mystery Island (Immediately completed after clicking the Mystery Island)
3. Spot the overgrown stables- Tap it.
5. Read a Horse Care Manual- 12 hours and 30 minutes (Are you fucking kidding me?!)
6. Call the mysterious number again (I know right?!)- 5 minutes
7. Look up a locksmith in a computer- 7 minutes and 12 seconds
8. Build the Stables (refer to picture in #3) - 9 hours and 30 minutes
10. Send a sim to the stables- Just tap the finished stables and call whistle your sim.
11. Clean up mess in front of yard- Clean up the oil drum in 4 minutes
12. Have 4 sims at the stables- Just call whistle 3 more sims to the stables
13. Clean up mess in yard with your sims- With your four sims, you have to clean up different sort of trash in the barnyard. There will be prompts (refer to picture in #11) as to the order of garbage that you will clean up (Total: 32 hours, 5 mins and 12 secs):
- Small Rock Pile- 4 hours
- Tree stump- 6 hours
- Wild Grass- 6 secs
- Weeds- 5 mins
- Old Tyre- 4 hours and 30 mins
- Large Rock Pile- 7 hours
- Thistles- 30 mins
- Water Trough- 10 hours
14. Watch the horse channel- 9 mins
15. Practice Brushing on another Sim- 3 minutes
16. Encourage a Sim- 4 minutes
17. Repair a stable- Go back to the stables and repair one of them.
18. Call the stables owner back (The mysterious number)- 2 minutes
19. Add a horse to the stable- Go back to the stables and tap the horse icon in the stable. A pop-up menu will show up. Since you haven't unlocked the "Tricks" hobby yet, you will only have access to two horses, Dappled Grey (15 000 simoleons) and Patches Brown (10 Social Points).
20. Feed the horse- 6 minutes and 5 seconds
And you're done. Congrats.
If you have finished this quest within the time limit, you will be rewarded with a unicorn painting. It should be in the decorations tab and can be bought for 10, 000 simoleons.
Commentary:
This quest sucked because the time limit seems too tight particularly for busy simmers like me. It didn't help that the reward is a lame unicorn painting which does not even come for free after unlocking it. It would have been good if the painting gives 1% inspiration to sims within a 5-meter radius.
This quest is followed by the Toddlers quest.
